Comment: In contrast to other reviews, I've found the paracord from The Sportsman's guide to be very reasonable. Inside the braided sleeve are 7 tightly twisted inner cords. All in all a very decent product.

Summary: Good paracord is hard to find...
Comment: If you're shopping for paracord, you surely know that it comes in all different levels of quality. Locally, I can only find the softer 5-strand stuff, but I've seen really nice 7-strand cord out of state and was searching for more. This isn't it. The inner strands are loose and barely twisted (not twisted tight as in the best paracord), and very thin, giving the cord a floppy, half-empty feel that makes complex knots difficult to taut up. Unspooling six feet of it at a time, I routinely find spots where the internal strands are kinked or bunched.
The spool has found a permanent home in my tool kit; it's perfectly adequate for quick-fixes and jury rigs (and does a fine job at that), but it isn't the really nice stuff I was searching for. This stuff's perfectly good if you want purely utilitarian cordage for simple tasks. If you want ecxellent paracord for survival or knotwork, though, keep looking.
