Customer Rating: Summary: Overall, just what we were looking for Comment: After reading the reviews here and doing a lot of comparison shopping, we bought the Roadtrip to use on our patio and while car camping. It has the hottest surface of all we looked at and it has performed really well (fish, veggies in a basket, corn, shishkabob, hamburgers, steak fillets, eggs and sausage with griddle). I like the fact the lid is high enough to close while cooking and the porcelain grill surface cleans pretty well.
It is heavy but the features (knobs, wheels, etc) feel very solid. Its a trade off but I think the sturdiness of it make it well worth the weight. I bought a full sized tank for the patio and bought disposable ones for camping. Not sure if it was my imagination or not but the portable ones don't feel like they have the same pressure and so grill doesn't burn as hot.
I do worry when it is in closed position about the tank nozzle which sticks out and should be removed when transporting it.
I ordered the cast iron griddle for it but it doesn't really fit well so have returned it. The carrying case shown on Amazon I couldn't get to fit. It went back too. have since purchased a nice griddle with handles and really like using it with this grill.
I based some of my decision on the reviews here, so figured I better write one too. I am not dissatisfied so far (after probably a dozen or so uses). I'd make the same decision again.
Customer Rating: Summary: Road Trip Grill Pro Comment: Item is a bit heavy but great for my apartment because it can be stored in a small space.
Customer Rating: Summary: coleman barb Comment: This product looks to be well made an very portable easy to move around and transport anywere.IT is exactly what I was looking for.
Customer Rating: Summary: great grill but could use some changes Comment: The annoying things about this portable grill are:
1. It weighs 70 pounds so it's not as portable as I thought. They should have used less weight in making the stand. I wish the base was detachable because because it's a lot of weight for 1 person to be lifting.
2. It's difficult to attach the gas cannister to the grill.
3. It's lowest temperature is 300 degree's. With 2 flames, I was hoping for around 200 to do slow cooking.
overall, this is a really good grill. The space between the hood and the grill is only about 7 inches but that is much better than other Coleman grills. Use aluminum foil to cover the trays when folding so they don't get so dirty when they come into contact with the grill. It's also got a rounded plate between the wheels which makes pulling it thru sand easier but with so much weight, it's not practical.
