Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent Compass! Comment: This is the same type of compass I trained with for orienteering during my high school ROTC days. When I decided I wanted a compass for an upcoming trip, I searched for comparable models at a couple of stores.
I found a number of chintzy plastic models that cost nearly twice as much at the big box store, and I found a nearly identical model for six times as much at the army surplus store.
Even without orienteering experience (I'm having to reteach myself) this is a sturdy, reliable compass that anyone can use.
