Customer Rating: Summary: Very reliable stove for campers/backpackers/hikers alike Comment: I was recommended this burner from a vagabonding friend of mine. He has used it every day for 1 year on his vagabonding trip across USA.
I bought this burner for cheaper at my local Walmart. It is very strong and the flames are very hot so I often just set it at "low" in case it destroys my mess kit. IMO, it cooks soup faster than my stove-top burner at home.
I've only used gasoline on it so far and it works great.
Customer Rating: Summary: coleman model 533 stove Comment: This stove is a real powerhouse we use it to boil large pots of crab(3 at a time). We bring it with us in our westfalia as a third burner or a fast water boiler. This stove will not let you down in almost any weather conditions. Coleman makes a very solid well made unit that can take a beating and keep on heating. This stove can use coleman, white gas or unleaded fuel. Bring one on your next outing and be amazed.
Customer Rating: Summary: One note of caution Comment: Like many others who were frustrated with the unpredictability of the Coleman white gas pump system, I had converted my conventional Coleman dual burner stove to propane. (This was the earlier, more rugged model. Too bad you can't buy them new any more!) I regretted that haste when I found myself camping out for longer periods of time, and being unwilling or unable to return to a town simply to stock up on propane bottles. There was always plenty of gas left in the Pontiac, and so I sprung for a one-burner. After you master adjusting the air mixture for humidity and temperature conditions, you can get a decent little fire going. But woe to the person who thinks he'll toss on his cast iron skillet and make up some breakfast! It is nearly impossible to get anything heavy to balance on this. If you're trying to be quiet in the woods--respecting nature, allowing other campers to sleep late, or just keep a low profile for some other reason--it really doesn't do to be shrieking in pain and frustration as a red hot piece of metal cascades onto your thigh. (OK, maybe I'm exaggerating--I have a tendency to magnify negatives, but I take that into account when coming up with a rating.)
I spent some time trying to make a ziggurat of rocks to hold it in place, but then couldn't get to the pump! I'm not an engineer by trade, just a software designer, but I would think that Coleman could figure out how to make some stabilizers that come out and keep the thing from lighting its owner on fire. (Not that this ever happened--there I go again!) [7]
Customer Rating: Summary: coleman one burner stove Comment: Have used these little stoves for backpacking and camping for many years. Have never had any problem with one, but I keep giving them to friends. This is the first multifuel one for me, am using it on unleaded gasoline with no problems. Nobody gets this one.
